Researchers in the School of Education at University of Leeds have launched a project to investigate the education needs of deaf children of Roma families.
This one year project is funded by the ESRC Impact Acceleration Award.
The aim of this work is to identify the learning, development and social needs of deaf children of Roma families and plan appropriate multi-professional intervention and support.
As part of this project LA services will be asked in a short survey to provide numbers of children/young people on their case load from families who identify as Roma.
This overview will inform more detailed service and individual case studies.
The survey will be circulated during February and will be quick and easy to do.
We urge you to respond to this so that we can establish an accurate national overview of the numbers and characteristics of Roma deaf children/young people on deaf education service caseloads.
If you would like to know more about the project please contact Jess Elmore J.Elmore@leeds.ac.uk
